Reflective Essay- Life Soundtrack Autobiography
For this project, we had to find music that would fit our lives and try to compare it with us to certain parts of our lives and connect it to the climax, plot, and character story elements. When I wrote this reflective essay, one of my strengths was writing something I really care about, like my one paragraoh about my grandpa. My weakness was looking for music and trying to compare my life to it. (I don't listen to a lot of music, so like others, music isn't my "life.") I hated it, and I learned something from this. I learned even though I don't always believe in myself, I could do it even if I'm struggling and even if I hate something, I still have to try my best! Next time I will make sure to look for music or anything that is very hard to find, and may take too much time from work, and bring it home. My grade for this project was a 91% and I turned it in the month of October 2013.
Persuasive Essay/Speech- Yupik Language
In this Persuasive paper, we had to write a paper and see what we wanted people to stop doing, or to keep it up. I wrote about my Yupi'k Langage and I tried to persuade people to keep trying to speak it because our language is fading. One strength was that I knew what I was writing about, and I cared what I was writing about. The struggling part was looking things up for the language. I knew about it, but I needed to reasearch about it too. Although it was difficult, I found couple of things online. I learned how much the langauge was dying, and how important it was to elders. If I was to do it differently, i'd see what I knew, and then look for things that I wanted to know. I never got a grade for it because we hadn't finished it in class, and now this semester i'm going to be taking an online class which leads me to not finishing and adding stuff to it.
Research Paper
The research I did for my Yupik persuasive paper was difficult. I had to look up information about the Yupi'k because we were going to use this for the persuasive paper. So I got four reasearch information papers and looked up and put the facts onto it. I mostly struggled with looking up some stuff because there wasn't a lot of good places to look especially for information that was really true. Just like the persuasive paper my strength was knowing about this stuff, and see what would be true, or could be. I never learned much but the Kuskoswim area is one of the last ones to have kids speaking the language. Next time I would go to the Yupi'k room and look at books to see what they had for Yupi'k langauges instead of using the internet. (ask tammy for grades!!!)
Morning Ride
Morning Ride was a descriptive essay for my LA2 class. We had to write what he had done that day, and make it descriptive as possible. I decided I would choose an event that happened early in the morning. I completed this in August of 2013 and my grade for this paper was a 94%-A. A strength I learned after looking through my graded work, was that I have a great voice. I make it sound like I would write it. One weakness was trying to make the reader think about what happened next after the morning ride. Everybody has their own strengths and weaknesses but I learned that I should work on captivating readers and make them wonder about what happened afterwards. I would change some sutff, and use more vocabulary, and try to make the reader suspecious.
Art of Persuasion Test
|
Before we did this test we learned about persuasive appeals, main ideas, allusions, tone and authors purpose. It took us quite a while because there were a lot of vocabs that we had to learn, and the appeals were kind of confusing. My grade was a 90% which is an A. It was the last test we took the first semester, and it was turned in December of 2013. My struggles with this test was trying to remember the persuasive appeals and getting them right. One of my strengths was learning my vocabulary quicker than my appeals. In the end I learned that I should practice what's harder for me, and try to learn them. If I could do it differently then i'd really practice everything at home. Although I had stuggles, I think I did great on my test!
